The females used in our kennel's breeding program are health tested in accordance with the PEVISA requirements.

STABIJHOUN PEVISA:
Before mating, both parents must have an official hip dysplasia evaluation. The registration limit is grade C or better. In addition, an official elbow evaluation must be completed before mating. Dogs with an elbow score of 0 or 1 may be used for breeding. A dog with elbow score 1 may only be paired with a dog that has elbow score 0. This requirement does not apply to matings with foreign stud dogs.

In recent years, we have also had the spines of our breeding dogs x-rayed. We perform von Willebrand type 1 and CD tests, and we have also begun taking DNA samples to detect hereditary diseases that may occur in the breed.

Our dogs participate in the Finnish Kennel Club's official behaviour and temperament evaluations (Käyttäytymisen jalostustarkastus) or in MH character tests. We value the same criteria when selecting a stud dog.

BROHOLMER PEVISA:
Hip and elbow evaluations are required, with a minimum age of 18 months. For spondylosis (SPO) screening, the minimum age is 2 years. A heart auscultation is required at the earliest at 12 months of age. If a heart murmur is detected, a full echocardiography must be performed before the dog can be used in breeding. A temperament test, MH character test, or the Finnish Kennel Club's official behaviour and temperament evaluation must be completed. An official conformation breeding evaluation by the Finnish Kennel Club is also required. The maximum number of offspring allowed is 25 per male and female. The final litter exceeding this limit will still be fully registered.

If you are considering a puppy from our kennel, all of the above are very important to me as a breeder—not only for the breeding dogs themselves, but also for the health examinations of their offspring in the future. And of course, these are important matters for you as a future owner as well.

I ask you to think about these points before contacting us about a puppy. Are you willing to commit to health examinations when your dog is 2 years old? These examinations currently cost a little over 300 euros. If you also find these matters important and are ready to commit to them, then I am happy to place you on our puppy reservation list. The commitment to health testing will also be written into the sales contract.
